From today (Friday, December 14) Hips now extends to all one- and two-bedroom properties put on the housing market in England and Wales.

Properties already on the market are exempt, and it's believed they will continue to be exempt as long as they remain on the market.

Hips was first applied to larger properties during the summer. Packs cost between £300 and £350 each and are paid for by the seller.


Getting a Pack
For sellers - If you are selling your home, there are a number of options:
* Use an estate agent
* Get a solicitor to do it
* Compile it yourself
* Enlist the help of other businesses, such as specialist pack providers

If you are commissioning a HIP, you may wish to consider a company that is a member of the HIP Code.
